Exploring Images in the 21st Century Classroom

If possible, how about sharing a view from our windows here and open them to the learning and connections ahead of us for the next six weeks and beyond? If you can't take a photo now, how about describing the view from your window, or even drawing it and sharing it with us?

We want to know more about you, your passions, your educational field, why you joined us, where you're from, your teaching context.

This is the bridge that would take you to the university where I work. Right now the river is frozen solid and covered in two feet of snow. The city of Saskatoon (pop. 300,000) in Saskatchewan, Canada is divided by a large river and four bridges. This is the most interesting.

Wow, what an awesome view! I've just read somewhere about the arctic Canadian winters and how minus 12 Celsius is balmy weather for you guys. Is it true? It's around minus 12 in Romania, right about now. :-)

It's about -20 Celcius here in Ukraine. It's too cold.

34 in Buenos Aire, melting.

I love bridges across rivers.

now that's cold, nina! and that's hot, gabriela! is it as unusual for you to associate January with winter as it is for me to think of January and summer, gabriela?

Reply to This

It is, Andreea. I cannot associate January with cold weather, but... December? That's quite a different story.
We follow European traditions, and Christmas celebration is no exception. So decorations come with fake snow, greeting cards with snow, ads with snow. And worst of all, on Christmas day we eat very heavy food instead of the light food we should be eating with temperatures over 30ªC!

traditions are there to be kept! fake snow, huh?
well, believe it or not, despite all the cold, we've been seeing less and less snow around this place, for years now. it snowed a couple of times back in december but since then, nada, just the dried out snow on roofs. and the cold, oh my God, the cold! ok, ok, it's not -20, but still... ;)

I remember being in Britain for Christmas and watching cricket on television. It was a big match in Australia, and while we huddled in sweaters and wondered if it would snow outside, the spectators were in shorts, and the men had their shirts off, getting a tan!

Yeah, I have the same weird feeling when I watch the Australian Open in tennis. They're all tanned, in T-shirts, sweating away on court or in the stands, and we're kicking the heaters because it's not warm enough.

Hi! I'm also from Argentina. What do you think of those poor Santa Clauses all dressed up in different shopping malls as if they were coming from the North Pole? :-P

I don't know how you survive. I find it cold if it drops under 20 degrees. Are your homes central heated?
