I'm wondering if someone could direct me to where I can find information on how to do the "maze" seen with DavidMuir's photos in week 2? I figured out the note system, but how do you sequence the photos?

Hello all:

Sorry not to reply to all these great suggestions! I found Flickr tools for resizing and found it took a lot of time. So now I have uploaded my photos into Picasa and am wondering how to get them from there to Flickr. Do I first upload them to my blog and then copy the code, or do I use the Export feature to send them directly to Flickr? Will try this before checking out some of the other freeware suggestions people have given. Thanks for the many responses!! Alison

Dear Carol,

You can change your photo settings to a Creative Commons license. Just like I mentioned on the blog post below. I can see that your photos are all under Carol, so no problem with "cllercr". I tend to use one of my photos in most of my profiles just as part of my visual identity. However, sometimes I just get tired and upload a different one. I don't think it's a big problem. Just a personal choice.

Hey, guys! I just replied to you about how to change the Licensing settings in Flickr of all your photos.

Ok, I have uploaded some of my favorite photos to flickr and completed the week 2 tasks. I have a couple of questions:
My profile name and pic here is different from my flickr profile ... will people know who I am? Does it matter? Will "cllecr" become my primary id?
Also, I haven't modified the default copyright setting for my pictures. I want to go visit all of the resources listed here, but don't have time right now.... what setting would you recommend if I want to protect my personal photos from blatant stealing but don't mind them being used if I am given credit? I have so much to learn!

Hello all,
Here's another resource I found: http://kalinago.blogspot.com/2008/11/commonly-creative.html

Thank you Shaun, Kathy -- learning in this way is so affirming, so how I wish those I call myself "facilitator" or "instructor" for would feel through their learning processes. Thanks all for this EVO opportunity!

I discovered today that you can change copyrights in batches. Go to Organize and drag the photos into the main window that you want to batch change. Then from the tab Permissions choose change licensing.
Thanks guys. In Flickr you can set your default creative commons license in your account preferences. I have set mine so all my uploads are automatically: Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike Creative Commons. I believe more people would share their images if they understood how easy it is, I then change the personal photos to All Rights Reserved individually.

I also usually use http://search.creativecommons.org/ for searching for Creative Commons images.

In reply to Holly's and Shaun's comments below...I would say, no, there's no fast way to search for images, because copy right is a complicated concept. I have a wiki page I prepared for a workshop that explores choosing a copyright for one's own work.

Searching for other people's photographs (living people) you can use Flickr's own Advanced Search, FilckrStorm. It's really a lot faster than simple search, and then having to check each photo's copyright notice.

If you know what sort of picture you're after, check this page at Wikipedia for a list of sources for public domain photos by area (History, Art, etc.)

The only policy you can follow is copyright law for the county in which you are using the images, and the concept of fair use for education. Fair Use is a huge topic. I've added a video to this ning that describes The Code of Best Practices in Fair Use for Media Literacy Education. (you can download the code here.)

Hello Shaun, all,
I'll confess that learning how to save my photos to Creative Commons is something I've not made the time to do yet. Seems like this EVO and this week the "time is right." Most of my photos are fine to be switched there -- so maybe you or someone else can guide me as to simple steps (hopefully it's not complicated) so I can do that?
And, is there a faster/easier way to search Creative Commons rather than having to click on advance tab and then scroll down and then check boxes and then...??? [Since I'm a spoiled person used to "faster, faster, faster" I find the process I'm using to search Creative Commons is not user friendly -- but I'm wondering if it's just something else I need to learn?]
Thanks for bringing this up; it's the nudge I need to take action and responsibiility to share my photos better!
Holly
